PIANO DESK
Completed Desk
A customer came to me with a unique and challenging project.
She had an old baby grand piano that had been in the family for a very long time. But now it would no longer stay in tune. Not wanting to just discard the piano, she asked if I could convert it into a desk and shelving unit.
She described some ideas that she had. We went back and forth a little to be sure she would get what she wanted, and the resulting sketches resulted in the final product you see pictured.
As much of the original instrument was used as could be. Added shelves are made of maple, stained to match the original color of the piano.
While the piano was old, it was still quite solid. This allowed many of the original parts to be reused, resulting in a piece that maintained the original grace of the piano.
